During the 2008 campaign, Obama harped on the fact that he would go after targets in Pakistan if Pakistan was unable or unwilling to do so. As McCain pointed out, you don't tell your enemies your plans or unnecessarily provoke a marginal ally with such statements. Now it turns out that the U.S. has pretty much been doing what Obama suggested... since 2004!

So the main difference between Obama's approach and the one that has been implemented by the Bush administration is that the Bush administration had the good sense not to announce covert operations to the entire world!
